VISAN Ventures ("VISAN", "we", "us"), a proprietorship of Sandiya V, builds decision-intelligence software and provides business-intelligence advisory services. We are based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to:

  • visitors to our website, visanventures.com;
  • people who contact us by email or phone;
  • our clients, prospective clients, partners and suppliers, and the people who work for them;
  • job applicants; and
  • our own team members, in respect of company-managed devices and accounts (Section 8).

Where our clients use our software products, we usually process data on their behalf. Section 7 explains how that works.

2. What we collect

We keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires:

7. Data in our software products

When a client uses a VISAN product, the client decides what data goes into it and why. In that case the client is responsible for the data (the "Data Fiduciary" under Indian law), and VISAN processes it only on the client's instructions, under a written agreement (we act as a "Data Processor"). If your data is held in a VISAN product by an organisation you deal with, please contact that organisation first. We will help them respond to your request.

8. Our team members and company devices

VISAN team members use company-managed laptops and accounts. To keep company and client data secure, our device-management system (Microsoft Intune) can see:

  • the device's name, model, serial number and operating system version;
  • whether the device meets our security rules (encryption, antivirus, updates);
  • the apps installed on company-owned devices; and
  • sign-in activity on company accounts.

It cannot see personal files stored outside company folders, browsing history in personal profiles, personal email, text messages, photos, contacts or passwords. Our internal IT security policy, which every team member signs, explains this in more detail.

9. How we protect your data

We protect personal data with reasonable security practices, including:

  • multi-factor authentication on all company accounts;
  • encrypted, centrally managed company laptops;
  • antivirus and threat detection on every company device;
  • access limited to the people who need it for their work; and
  • encrypted storage and transmission of data with our cloud providers.

If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

10. Your rights

Under Indian data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correction and completion: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data, or update it.
